On October 20, 2023, the Centre for Global Studies at the University of Victoria hosted a successful fundraiser to launch its new Community Scholars Fund. The event was held to celebrate the 80th birthday of Professor Budd Hall, who literally invented the term participatory research 50 years ago in Tanzania. The Community Scholars Fund will support young community and non-profit leaders participating in Knowledge for Change, the community-based research mentoring program of the UNESCO Co-Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education.
