On October 25, 2018, at the Social Capital Markets conference (SoCap 18) in San Francisco, some 70 delegates engaged in a workshop on the Intersection of Participation and Impact Investing, discussing obstacles to and best practices for expanding participation at all stages of the investment cycle. Panellists included Morgan Simon, author of Real Impact and Managing Director of the Candide Group, and Rajiv Khanna, Director of Partnerships for the non-profit Thousand Currents, host of the Buen Vivir fund. Ted Jackson moderated. The session had been organized by Grace Lyn Higdon and Peter O’Flynn of the Governance and Participation group at the Institute of Development Studies in the UK, who also curate a popular blog series on participation and impact investing.
