Our team evaluated scholarship programs for young African leaders at seven North American Universities
Client: Mastercard Foundation
Project: Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Mid-Term Evaluation
Type: Evaluation
Date: 2016-2018
Overview
During the period 2016-2018, Jackson and Associates carried out mid-term evaluations of the Mastercard Foundation (MCF) Scholars Program being implemented at four American universities (California [at Berkeley], Duke, Michigan State and Stanford) and three Canadian universities (British Columbia, McGill and Toronto). MCF Scholars, both undergraduate and graduate-level, are young African leaders with a commitment to their communities and strong academic qualifications, undertaking degree programs across a range of disciplines, from business and engineering to political science and gender studies. The programs provide comprehensive support to Scholars, including academic tutoring, well-being counselling, leadership training and internships.
Results
Collecting data through document review, key person interviews of Scholars, faculty and staff, group dialogues with Scholars, and online surveys, these evaluations produced seven institutional case studies, two cross-case synthesis reports, and three thematic learning briefs.
