On October 20, 2018, at the British Columbia Horticultural Garden near Victoria, British Columbia, a successful dual-purpose event was held, first, to raise funds for the work of the Martha Farrell Foundation to fight violence against women and girls in India and, second, to celebrate the 75th birthday of Dr. Budd Hall of the University of Victoria. More than 70 guests heard moving remarks from Foundation leaders Dr. Rajesh Tandon and Ms. Tariqa Tandon as well as Dr. Darlene Clover, chair of the Canadian arm of MFF. That was followed by rousing tributes to Dr. Hall by family, friends and colleagues. Also in attendance was a group of community-based researchers from six countries who were being trained as CBR mentors as part of the Knowledge for Change project of the UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education.
